Subject: Your thoughts

Kathy, we became facebook "friends" by playing mafia wars, I don't think either of us plays that game anymore, and for some reason, you didn't remove me as a friend and I didn't remove you. I've seen your enthusiasm for your NFL team, you've invited me to virtual rallies for I think the Broncos? But I'm a die hard Steelers fan so no way am I going to rally for Denver:) You know what I mean! Then I saw a few posts you made during the Presidential election last year, and I see that we are somewhat kindred in our beliefs. I was heavily involved in the presidential campaign, volunteered with the DNC and did what I could. I'd see a post or two of yours and nod approvingly, as it seemed as tho we were on the same page. Then it was over and I never gave it another thought. Then one day, for some reason I saw where you posted that you had a blog, and invited anyone to read it and to leave their thoughts. Well, I admit that I've read a few, not daily, but just when I occasionally saw that you had a new one. Well, I'm compelled to say that I've been slapped in the face. If that doesn't make any sense, what I mean is that I saw you as someone who has the same ideals as I do, I.e. democratic leanings, disfavor with some of these asshats in congress who don't have a clue what it means to not be able to feed your family or not find work and these guys want you to take a pee test because you're obviously on drugs.
Anyhow, I read where you have survived cancer, and I thought to myself wow. I had no idea. But then, how would I? Then I read how incredibly supportive your friends have been, and I just think that is awesome, and that you are obviously someone who invites caring without actually sending invitations. Because you don't have to, you are just that kind of person.
I find that your posts and thoughts are really, really just like mine. That sometimes you have to seriously look at something that you think is just an awful bill being presented but there just might be an upside.
I don't know if you're watching, but wow, I could really see Alex taking over the 8 PM slot and making a huge difference in viewership. Chris Hayes is too much, I've even had someone tell me on another site that she's got a Ph.D and so she understands him but us ingoramuses can't because we're not smart enough.
I'm saddened to see that today is the 20th of June and you haven't posted anything; I did see your post on our FB page where you said you had to be taken to the hospital and wouldn't be on for a while. That's why I'm writing. I want you to know that even though we don't really know each other, even though we are rivals as far as our football teams go, I appreciate who you are. I appreciate your obvious sense of fairness. I appreciate that you are a survivor and want you to know whether you believe in a higher power, or not, that I will pray for you, pray that you are able to be the person that you are, and that you maintain the ability to be the person that you want to be. God Bless.

While I respect your being a Steelers fan you could still come and cheer for the Broncos when we are not playing. LOL. I am glad that the accident of playing the silly games we play brought us together. I am getting back on my feet now and will be back to posting here on a regular basis. What a great surprise to have so much in common loving football and all. Thanks for your prayers I know they were herd because I have jumped over several hurdles that I had to worry about. Thanks for being a friend!

Subject: post about the GOP

There has been an incredible amount of 'training the public how to think' going on by major media, police ect in the past 50 years. One thing I have noticed is that we live in a society that celebrates 'music' such as songs with lyrics like "Let the bodies hit the floor" and shoot em up movies. We celebrate death on the tv screen and in our culture often so when it comes to killing somone a world away... it doesnt bother us because we dont see it. But the second someone blows up a boston marathon.. america goes into a panik. We have disconnected ourselves from Murder so much that we dont even know what it truly is, and certainly dont know how to react to it when it happens in our home (country). I find myself thinking that unless society takes a major change, these school shootings, wars, ect will never end.
I know my response was a little bit off topic of the GOP and Trevon Martain case, but you get the idea and im sure can see the correlation.

Yes Julie i do see a disconnect from death and our lives. It seems to me that it is ok for the poor Mother to send her son to war but heaven forbid some rich guy has his son go. I like scary movies I will admit but not the blood bath ones I want it to scare me in a creepy sort of way. The video games that put you as the first person shooter are numbing us to the violence that surrounds us. Drones are another way we do not have to directly involve ourselves in war but I am all for saving American lives. My first choice would be to end war all together and put that money towards better education and college programs for poor kids so that they could better themselves and see a way out of their poor lives. Senseless shootings and murders need to end it is an illness that strikes deep. As Americans we cannot imagine an invading source coming to our shores and standing on our ground and fighting on it. This last happened here in the civil war so it is far out of our collective memories. The only time people get mad about a gun death is when it is someone that they know and love.
